Keep it simple and try not to get overwhelmed...
Who should you provide transportation for? What kind of transportation should it be? When should it be for?
We want to help you make your wedding day transportation decisions!!
Wedding Guests
Providing transportation for your wedding guests is dependent on a few things.
You want to consider how many out of town guests?
What hotel you will get a block of rooms at?
Where it is the hotel located compared to your venue?
If you don’t have many out of town guests, most people will be comfortable getting around the area and you probably won’t need transportation. However, if you have a lot of out of town guests and the venue isn’t close to the hotel, it is ideal to offer transportation and it is a lovely way to take care of the people who have shown up for you!
If you provide transportation to the venue, don’t forget you need to provide transportation back! One more thing to consider is an offsite ceremony. If that applies to you and the two locations are far apart, consider adding transportation between the two locations. If you do end up providing guest transportation, it is easiest – and most budget friendly to offer shuttle buses.
Wedding Party
The need for transportation for your wedding day is dependent on the different locations you will be going to that day. If everyone is getting ready at a location that is not walk-able to the venue, then you will need some way of transporting everyone in your party to the venue and then to the reception. At the end of the nigh your bridal party will be on their own.
If you did get a bus to take guests back to the hotel, don’t forget to account for a few extra spots for your bridal party at the end of the night! You want to ensure you get a bus large enough to account for bridesmaids, groomsmen, and any family members that will be needing a ride as well.
Communication with your guests and your wedding party is key to the wedding transportation working out as you intend. You want to make sure that you have a schedule for the shuttle in place and that information is communicated to everyone attending.
Having the DJ or band announce shuttle times at the start of the evening is a good communication tool or a sign can work well too.
The Couple
Remember, this is your wedding day and one of the best things you can do for yourself on the night of your wedding is to book transportation for your getaway!
Black car service is ideal…a sedan or SUV is more common in recent years. It is nice to enjoy a few minutes by yourself as husband and wife to reflect and soak in the amazing night you just had!
